  • Ambushed! On March 15th, 1899, JHA was ambushed by three Filipinos. These pages are his writings about that ambush.
  • A Letter Home The only letter I have from JHA to home.
  • "Pictures and Handkershif" On August 21st, 1889, part of the entry reads, "I have been selling Pictures and Handkershif for a few days in Camp for pasttime." These pages show his bookkeeping.
  • Discharge "Served During Spanish American War in the Philippines. Battle of Malate, Surrender of Manila. Served during Filipino Insurrection Feby 4th to June 30.99 Battle Feby 5 Charge and Capture of De La Loma Church, Block House No. 3, Campaign against Malolos."
