The weather is clear but cold in the morning. We drilled hard all day. In the afternoon, Captain [Daniel] Bierer, who was elected in Captain Beeson's place because he failed to pass a doctor's examination, arrived and received a hearty reception. All the boys are well. We only had two meals this day which were very poor.
