Weather is lovely and all of us are getting shore leave until 9 p.m. This is a holiday over here in Yokohama and the whole city is decorated. A good many American flags are visible. The Captain is having a draft cashed and each one in our company received five yens ($2.30). Most of us went on the train to Tokyo which is the capitol of Japan. I went there in the afternoon and returned in the evening in time to see the fireworks in front of the Oriental Hotel on the bay. I didn't go aboard the ship but put up at the Salvation Army where we had good bed. Meals are very reasonable; in fact, everything is cheap.
